Biographies:

A Short Biography of Jonathan Prentiss Dolliver

Jonathan Prentiss Dolliver, representative, was born near Kingwood, Preston county, Va., Feb. 6, 1858; son of James J. and Eliza J. (Brown) Dolliver; and grandson of Capt. Henry Dolliver of Salem, Mass., and of Robert Brown of Virginia. He was graduated from West Virginia university in 1875 and was admitted to the bar in 1878. He was a Republican representative from Iowa in the 51st, 52d, 53d, 54th, 55th, and 56th congresses, 1889-1901, and on Aug. 31, 1900, he was appointed U.S. senator, and was elected for the term to expire March 3, 1907.
