Biographies:

William Henry - A Biography

William Henry, representative, was born in New Hampshire in 1788. He attended the common schools and removed to Bellows Falls, Vt., where he devoted himself to mercantile pursuits and was cashier of the Bank of Bellows Falls for fifteen years. He was a member of the board of trustees of the village, and it was on his motion that the act incorporating the village was accepted in 1834. He was a member of the board of fire wardens, 1834-44; a member of the Whig national convention, held at Harrisburg, Pa., that nominated William Henry Harrison for President of the United States in 1840; a presidential elector in 1840; a Whig representative in the 30th and 31st congresses, 1847-51; and a presidential elector on the Lincoln and Hamlin ticket in 1860. He died at Bellows Falls, Vt., April 17, 1861.
