Contact Us! 15% - 35% off all Products ยป The Ready Store Biographies:A Short Biography of Horace Kephart Horace Kephart, librarian, was born at East Salem, Juniata county, Pa., Sept. 8, 1862; son of Isaiah Lafayette and Mary Elizabeth (Sauers) Kephart. He was educated in the public schools of Iowa, to which state his parents removed in 1867. He was graduated from Lebanon Valley college, Annville, Pa., A.B., 1879, A.M., 1882; took post-graduate studies at Boston university, 1880, Cornell university, 1881-84, and Yale, 1886-88; was an assistant in the Cornell University library, 1880-84, and travelled in Europe, 1884-86. He was married, April 12, 1887, to Laura White, daughter of Horace and Lucy (Wheeler) Mack, of Ithaca, N.Y. He was an assistant in the Yale University library, 1886-90, and in 1890 was elected librarian of the St. Louis Mercantile library. |
