Dorr, representative, was born in Monroe county, Ohio, Aug. 12, 1852; son of Simon and Ellen (McCammon) Dorr; and grandson of John Dorr, who immigrated to the United States from France after the French revolution and settled in Ohio. He was educated in the common schools and in 1873 was admitted to the bar in Ohio. He removed to West Virginia in 1874 and practised law in Addison. He was a member of the state legislature in 1884 and 1888, and a Republican representative from the third district of West Virginia in the 55th congress, 1897-99. He declined renomination in 1898.
