Biographies:

Biography of Henry Lowndes Muldrow

Henry Lowndes Muldrow, representative, was born in Lowndes county, Miss. He was graduated at the University of Mississippi, A.B., 1856, and LL.B. in 1858, was admitted to the bar in 1859 and settled in practice in Starkville. He served in the Confederate army, 1861-65, rising from private to colonel of cavalry. He was district attorney for the sixth judicial district of Mississippi, 1869-71; represented Lowndes county in the state legislature in 1875, and was a Democratic representative from the first Mississippi district in the 45th, 46th and 47th congresses, 1877-85. He was first assistant secretary of the U.S, interior department, 1885-89, a trustee of the University of Mississippi and a delegate to the state constitutional convention of 1890.
