He was admitted to the bar in 1827, removed to Greensburg, La., where he was register of the land office, and was elected to the state legislature, 1833-46. He was a Democratic representative in the 34th, 35th and 36th congresses, but withdrew from the 36th congress in February, 1861, with other secessionists. After the war he again served in the Louisiana legislature. He died in Livingston parish, La., Sept. 11, 1883. Local History and Genealogy Links: |
