Additional Local History Notes: The 1854 Gazetteer of the United States by Thomas Baldwin shows: GOODHUE, a county in the S. E. part of Minnesota, bordering on the Mississippi river, and on Lake Pepin, which separates it from Wisconsin, contains about 650 square miles. It is intersected by the Cannon river. The surface is undulating; the soil produces Indian corn, oats, potatoes, and grass. The census of 1850 furnishes no statistics of this county, it having been formed in 1852-3, out of a part of Wabashaw co. Capital, Redwing. |
