Edward Augustus Brackett Biographical Sketch

Edward Augustus Brackett, sculptor, was born in Vassalborough, Me., Oct. 1, 1819; was noted for his characteristic busts of Longfellow, Bryant, Dana, Sumner, Choate, Allston, Phillips, Garrison, General Butler, and many others. His most important ideal work is a life-sized group in marble entitled, "The Shipwrecked Mother and Child," which was exhibited in Boston and New York in 1859, was for many years in the Boston Athen?um.
