Biographies:

A Biography of Asa Green

Asa Green, author, was born in Ashburnham, Mass., in 1789. He was graduated from Williams college, A.B., 1813; from Brown, M.D., 1822, and from the Berkshire medical institution in 1827. Afterward he removed to New York city, where he opened a book store and for some years was editor of the Evening Transcript. He is the author of The Life and Adventures of Doctor Dodimus Duckworth, A.N.Q. ; to which is added the History of a Steam Doctor (1833); The Perils of Pearl Street (2 vols., 1834); The Travels of Ex-Barber Fribbelton in America (1835); A Yankee Among the Nullifiers (1835); A Glance at New York (1837); and Debtors' Prison (1837). He died in New York city in 1839.

ASHBURNHAM, a post-township of Worcester county, Massachusetts, 50 miles N. W. from Boston, is intersected by the Cheshire railroad, and has a number of valuable mill seats; with manufactures of cotton goods, boots, cabinet ware, &c. Population, 1875.
