Biographies:

The Biography of Edson Lyman Clark

Edson Lyman Clark, clergyman, was born at Easthampton, Mass., April 1, 1827; son of Ithamar and Ursula (Lyman) Clark, and grandson of Oliver and Damaris (Strong) Clark. His early education was acquired at Williston academy, and he was graduated at Yale college in 1853 and at Union theological seminary in 1858. He was ordained to the Congregational ministry Nov. 30, 1859, and held pastorates at Dalton, Mass., 1858-66; North Branford, Conn., 1867-77; Southampton, Mass., 1877-86, and Charlemont, Mass., 1888-91. He was married Dec. 8, 1858, to Jane Elizabeth Stone of New York city. Among his publications are The Arabs and the Turks (1876); The Races of European Turkey (1878); Fundamental Questions (1882).
