Benjamin Franklin Funk - A Biography

Benjamin Franklin Funk, representative, was born in Funk's Grove township, McLean county, Ill., Oct. 17, 1838; son of Isaac Funk. He attended Illinois Wesleyan university for three years and in 1866-69 engaged in farming. In 1869 he removed to Bloomington, Ill., and in 1871 was elected mayor of the city, serving seven consecutive terms: He was a delegate to the Republican national convention in 1888 and was a Republican representative in the 53d congress, 1893-95. He was elected a trustee of Illinois Wesleyan university in 1874 and was president of the board of trustees of that institution, 1876-93.
