Contact Us! 15% - 35% off all Products ยป The Ready Store Biographies:Biography of Robert Wilton Lockwood Robert Wilton Lockwood, painter, was born in Wilton, Conn., Sept. 11, 1861; son of John Lewis and Emily (Hiddlebrook) Lockwood, and grandson of George W. Lockwood and of Col. James Middlebrook. In 1880 he became a pupil of John La Fargo in New York city. He studied in Paris, 1885-95, and devoted his attention exclusively to portrait painting. He was elected a member of the Society of American Artists in 1898. He exhibited at Champs de Mars, 1894-95-96, and received the silver medal at the International Exposition, Paris, 1900. Among his more important works are: Portrait of Otto Roth, the violinist, which won the third prize at the Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, and the Temple gold medal at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts at Philadelphia in 1898; French Sailor (1895); Master of the Fox Hounds (1896); portrait of Gen. Francis A. Walker (1899). |

W. by W. from New Haven. It contains 2 churches, an academy and several stores. Population of the township, 2066. Wilton is situated 76 meters above sea level. |
