Contact Us! 15% - 35% off all Products ยป The Ready Store Biographies:The Biography of James Dellet James Dellet, representative, was born in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1788, of Irish parents. He was taken to South Carolina in infancy and was graduated from South Carolina college in 1810. He was admitted to the bar in 1813, and was appointed a commissioner in equity. In 1816 he removed to Claiborne, Ala., where he was a judge of the circuit court. In October, 1819, he became a representative in the first general assembly of the state, and in the twelve years following he was four times elected to the legislature and was speaker in 1821. He was a representative in the 26th congress, 1839-41, and in the 28th congress, 1843-45. He died at Claiborne, Ala., Dec. 21, 1848. |
